Director’s Speech
All praise is due to Allah for the countless blessings He has bestowed upon us. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alaihi wassalam, his family, his companions, and all those who follow his path steadfastly until the end of time.
The increasing awareness among the public to pay zakat, give infaq, and donate charity is inseparable from the role of Zakat Management Institutions and scholars who continually enlighten people about the importance and virtues of these practices. This has greatly contributed to the growth of zakat collection, distribution, and utilization by official zakat institutions appointed by the government.
Today, we are witnessing a competitive atmosphere (competing in doing good) shown by Zakat Management Institutions in managing zakat, infaq, and charity. Creative, innovative, and solution-oriented methods of collection are demonstrated through various presentations and discussions. Distribution and utilization are carried out effectively, efficiently, transparently, and accountably—principles that cannot be overlooked.
The high level of zakat collection and the proper utilization of zakat have a positive impact on fulfilling the trust of zakat for the eight categories of recipients, especially the poor and the needy, alongside the other six categories. In recent times, the role of Zakat Management Institutions has become increasingly important as they are linked to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the government.
With the presence of RUMAH ZIS UGM, may Allah’s blessings be upon it, enabling us to contribute to the advancement of economic civilization and the arrival of abundant blessings.
Let us, together, pay zakat, give infaq, donate charity, and support through RUMAH ZIS UGM.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
